Roma’s Francesco Totti is making good progress in his recovery from a broken leg, according to doctors, alleviating concerns that he might miss this summer’s World Cup.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury in the Serie A game against Empoli in February.

The injury cast doubt on his ability to recover in time for this summer’s World Cup in Germany, but Totti is ahead of schedule.

“I’m not surprised Francesco is doing so well,” said professor Mariani, who performed the surgery on Totti.

“His recovery is going very well. He is six days ahead of the plans we set out for him.”
