Italian playmaker Francesco Totti has revealed that he is not interested in a move to England and confirmedthat he would only leave Roma to play for Real Madrid.

“My priority is to stay here in Roma,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But Roma must be a team who are going for the title.

“Otherwise? In my mind there is only Madrid – for the respect I have for Roma supporters, I could not move to an Italian team.

“As for English football – it does not fascinate me. Spanish, then yes and Real are full of champions.

“This is something on which I must think to understand better before taking a decision.

“Now it isn’t the moment, but when I am back from Euro 2004, I want to know what is happening.

“I want to know who will arrive and who will leave. As captain they (Roma) must tell me how things are, because if now is soon, in July the games will be coming, in one sense or another and a decision must be taken.”

Milan have also been linked, but Totti admits it would be impossible for him to sign for another Italian team.

“There is no doubt it would be hard saying no to Berlusconi (Milan president Silvio) But how can I go? Who would explain this to Roma’s supporters. It would be a big drama.”
