The Italian Football Federation have confirmed the promotion of Treviso and Ascoli to replace relegated sides Genoa and Torino in next season’s Serie A.

Genoa were demoted following after beind guilty of match-fixing in their final match of last season, while Torino were unable to offer financial guarantees to the league and both will play out in Serie C1 next season.

Treviso president, Ettore Setten, confirmed on the club’s official website: “I’m happy and at the same time extremely proud.

“Everyone at the club must take credit and I won’t forget the people who were here last season and made all this possible.

“I’d always hoped that one day this club and team would deserve their chance to play in the top league.”

Treviso will start their Serie A campaign with a daunting trip to face Internazionale, whilst Ascoli will host Milan.
