Juventus striker David Trezeguet has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Barcelona.

The Frenchman picked up a shoulder injury after falling badly during Juve’s brusing 2-0 derby win over Torino on Saturday. The club confirmed that he would needat least a week to recover from the injury.

Midfielder Pavel Nedved was another casualty in a match which saw four red cards, but the Czech international, who has been in outstanding form this season, still has a chance orrecovering to face Barcelona.

Juventus coach Marcello Lippi remains hopeful that Nedvbed will recover in time for Wednesday’s quarter-final clash.

“I’m worried about injuries, Trezeguet won’t be available, I hope to have Nedved back on pitch,” he said.

“It is a real shame. It seems every time we get players back from injury, something else happens.”
