Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim is set to quit the club after their UEFA Cup exit at the hands of Villarreal last night.

The Turkish side went down 3-0 at Villarreal to lose 5-2 on aggregate.

Terim was quoted as saying that he would hand in his resignation to Gala chairman Ozhan Canaydin.

“Tomorrow (Thursday) I will make a proposal to the chairman. Even if I leave Galatasaray, I will always stand by the chairman and the club,” Terim said at a news conference after the match.

“If anyone is guilty it is me. I don’t know what answer the chairman Ozhan Canaydin will give.

“Being unsuccessful is a result, I have been unsuccessful.

“In the club’s 100th year a new team, a new stadium and a new boss could inject enthusiasm.”
