Holland coach Marco van Basten admits he is pleased to be facing Guus Hiddink in the the quarter-finals of Euro 2008, but he confirmed that is looking forward to knocking his fellow countryman out of the tournament.
The Holland boss will come face-to-face with Hiddink’s Russia side on Saturday in Basel.
Holland took maximum points from their group games, while Russia recovered from a 4-1 hammering by Spain in their opening match to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Van Basten has revealed his admiration for his Russian counterpart.
“I am really happy for Guus,” he said.
“After a difficult start to the tournament, Russia have started to play very well. They are an attack-minded team, with technically skilled players.
“(But) I think this group can handle that.”
