Holland coach Marco van Basten has played down talk of a rift in the Dutch camp.
Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben are reported to have had a disagreement after last weekend’s win over Serbia & Montenegro, but van Basten claims that the players are getting along fine.
“The players have a lot of trust and confidence in each other to take into the Ivory Coast game,” said van Basten.
“The relationship between Robben and Van Persie only becomes dangerous when it becomes an issue in the media.
“I have discussed the situation between them and we have mentioned it to the whole group. It is not an issue now.
“It just happened that a lot of balls were crossed in from the right to the left. Arjen Robben did very good work with the ball. Maybe the players realised that during the game.
“Arjen was feeling good and he wanted the ball more and more. It is just coincidence. Next time it could all come from Robin’s side.”
