Rafael van der Vaart has dismissed talk that he could return to Hamburg from Real Madrid.

The Dutchman has struggled to establish himself at Real since his arrival at the club from Hamburg last summer.

Hamburg coach Martin Jol had prompted speculation about a possible return to Germany for the 26-year-old playmaker by suggesting he would be interested in re-signing van der Vaart.

Van der Vaart has moved to play the rumours, saying he has no intention of leaving El Santiago Bernabeu.

“Even though I had a great time at Hamburg, I absolutely want to stay at Real and succeed. A return is just out of the question,” van der Vaart told Bild.
