Ajax midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has been recalled by Dutch coach Dick Advocaat for Holland’s friendly against Germany next week in Gelsenkirchen.

Van der Vaart injured his knee playing for Holland in a Euro 2004 qualifier against Belarus in September. He scored a late consolation goal for Ajax in Tuesday’s Champions League game against Internazionale.

‘I am glad that Rafael is available again. It was a shame that two months ago he got injured shortly after coming on as a substitute. In recent weeks he showed at Ajax that he’s fully recovered,’ Advocaat said.

Van der Vaart was out for six weeks after injuring his left knee ligaments in the second half of the Netherlands’ 3-0 win against Belarus.
