Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal will sign a 12-month contract extension this week, according to chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Van Gaal’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, but Bayern are keen retain the services of the Dutchman.
Bayern won the Bundesliga and the German Cup last season, while they also finished runners-up in the Champions League.
Van Gaal has come under scrutiny this season following Bayern’s disappointing start to this campaign, but Rummenigge refuses to panic, telling Bild: “We are not going to change our minds after one defeat.
“Quite the opposite – we are going to extend his contract this week.
“That will be a clear signal of how highly Louis is regarded at FC Bayern.
“The coach has this philosophy and we are fully behind him.
“The coach is doing an excellent job and it is not he but the players who are now under pressure to deliver the goods.”
