Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has asked for a transfer after meeting with the club’s chief executive Peter Kenyon, his agent has confirmed.

Veron, who joined Chelsea for £15m last summer, has admitted he is keen to sign for Italian giants Internazionale.

His agent, Fernando Hidalgo, told the Guardian newspaper: “Veron met Kenyon and told him he wants to be sold.

“Veron wants to return to Italy and Inter are among the teams that are interested in signing him.”

“Inter and Chelsea have not talked yet, but I think they will do.

“Veron would love to return to Italy where he has his best memories as a player.”

Veron has only made 14 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Manchester United.

Yesterday he told the Corriere Dello Sport newspaper: “It would be stimulating to play for Inter as it’s many years since the club have won a big title.

“But we have to wait until the end of the season to see who will coach Inter.”

Inter face Empoli in their final league game of the season on Sunday – a win in that match will ensure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
