Newcastle have agreed to sign Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka.

The 31-year-old Australian has been offered an new deal by Boro boss Gareth Southgate but has yet to respond.

Portsmouth and West Ham are also believed to be keen on the striker and Birmingham have reportedly joined the chase to sign him as well.

Viduka is currently on holiday before joining the Australia squad to play in the Asian Cup.

Viduka signed for Boro in July 2004 in a £4.5m from Leeds.

He scored 19 goals last season forming a prolific partnership with Nigerian striker Yakubu.
