Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira believes destiny has played its part in pairing his current club with former club Arsenal in the Champions League quarter finals.

The draw for the quarter-finals saw the Italian league leaders drawn to face Arsenal, taking the 29-year-old Frenchman back to Highbury for the first time since he left last summer.

“At times destiny serves up some surprises,” Vieira, who joined Arsenal in 1996 from Milan, told the Juve website.

“Obviously for me it will be a special match, seeing that I’ll be returning to Highbury as part of the opposing team.

“But beyond that I’ll be thinking only of winning.”

Vieira won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups while at Arsenal.
