Italy striker Christian Vieri has joined Milan from city rivals Inter.

The 31-year-old, surprisingly released by Inter last week, signed a contract until June 2007, the club ha confirmed.

Milan is Vieri’s 10th club in a much-travelled career which began with Torino.

His latest move came amid reports that Milan had set their sighst on signing Parma striker Alberto Gilardino.

Vieri reportedly left Inter because he was unhappy at his increasingly marginal position in the team under coach Roberto Mancini.

Vieri’s move casts doubt over Hernan Crespo’s future at the club.

The Argentinian spent last season on loan with the Serie A and is desperate to turn his move from Chelsea into a permanent arrangement. However, with Chelsea struggling to sign a striker this summer, Crespo may be forced to resume his career at Stamford Bridge.
