Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini has admitted he will be happy to see Marcos Senna remain with the club.

Senna has been tipped for a move to Manchester United, but the Premiership outfit have been unable to agree a fee for the Spanish midfielder.

With Senna still at Villarreal, Pellegrini is hoping that the deal does not materialise.

“For the team it will be positive news because he is an excellent player in our system,” Pellegrini said.

“The option for Manchester United is still there but he will still be our player until negotiations are completed.

“But if it does not happen then he will be an important player in the team.

“Marcos is an excellent professional and I have no doubt in his ability. He is very calm for the new season after playing in the World Cup.”
