The Spanish FA have given their backing to national team coach Luis Aragones amid reports that he was to be sacked next month.

It was reported on Wednesday that Aragones would be fired in Deecember and replaced by former Spain coach Jose Antonio Camacho.

But RFEF spokesman Jorge Carretero called the reports “hoaxes and groundless comments”, and was admanat that they still had “total confidence” in Aragones.

“There is no basis to that information at all. We are happy with Luis Aragones, he is our national team coach and there is nothing to say,” Carretero said.

“Those are hoaxes, groundless comments which are meant to cause damage.”
