Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called on his players to summon the spirit that the Gunners displayed against Milan in the previous round, when face Liverpool at Anfield in tonight’s Champions League quarter-final second leg tie.

With the score locked at 1-1 after the first leg, Wenger is looking for a repeat of the character shown when his side beat Milan 2-0 away to reach the last eight of the competition.

“We need a similar spirit to the one we showed at the San Siro,” confirmed the Frenchman.

“I believe we have to go into the game with the same positive attitude.

“I believe we can win anywhere in the world. We are not going to play the game to go to penalties, we will play it to win.

“There will be more urgency in this game and less observation. My wish is not to be patient. I want to score early goals.”

Wenger has also dismissed suggestions that influential midfielder Cesc Fabregas is suffering from fatigue after playing 41 games this season.

“I still think Cesc has enough in the tank, even if he has played a lot of games,” added Wenger.

Wenger added he hoped Liverpool would endure the same fate his side suffered against Chelsea in another all English quarter-final in 2004.

“We drew at Chelsea 1-1 and then lost at home to a last-minute goal, so we can take an example from that,” he said.

Arsenal have won two of their last 11 games, are six points off the league lead butWenger believes his side can still win a domestic and European double this season.

“I still believe we can finish as champions in the league but we need to win at United on Sunday,” he declared.

“I also believe we can win the Champions League. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think that.”
