West Ham have signed Israel striker Yaniv Katan from Maccabi Haifat

.

The 24-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract subject to securing a work permit and passing a medical.

“The chance to sign a player of his quality was too good an opportunity to miss,” said Hammers boss Alan Pardew.

“His signing represents a good deal for the club.

“And it will give us the resources to further add to our squad when the transfer window opens in January.”

Katan was a regular in the Maccabi Haifa team at the age of 17 and made his international debut two years later.

Katan cannot be registered until 1 January.
