Wolfsburg have completed the signing of playmaker Diego from Juventus.

Wolfsburg have confirmed that the player signed a four-year contract late and he will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Friday.

Diego played for Werder Bremen for three years, scoring 38 goals in 84 appearances and inspiring them to the UEFA Cup final and DFB-Pokal title in 2009.

However, he disappointed in Serie A with Juventus last season and now returns to the league where he first made the breakthrough.

A fee believed to be in the region of €15 million has been agreed between the two clubs.

Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness suggested on Thursday that Zvjezdan Misimovic may be allowed to leave the club as a result of the deal.

“We made it very clear that we would not be allowing Zwetschge Misimovic to go so long as we have no alternative for his position,” he said on the club’s official website. “That’s exactly how it is at other clubs too. It makes no sense trying to juggle 15 balls at the same time – it the just all becomes increasingly more complicated.”

He added: “There will be no changing the fact that the transfer window does not close until August 31st.”
