Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni says he is confident of keeping his job despite reports he will be shown the door and replaced by current Lazio coach Roberto Mancini.

“Myself, the club and the owners are in perfect harmony,” said Zaccheroni, whose Inter team fell 19 points behind leaders Milan in Serie A following their 3-2 defeat to their city rivals on Saturday.

“We’re in daily contact. The rapport I have with them is excellent and I can’t complain about anything, while the understanding I have with the squad is ideal.”

It has beenn reported that Mancini is being lined up to take over if Zaccheroni fails to clinch a place in next season’s Champions League.

But Zaccheroni believes all the speculation is undermining the confidence of his players.

“We need to start believing in ourselves a bit more,” he said.

“If we have the courage to continue with our plans then we have the possibility of returning to winning ways.

“Obviously the future of a coach is tied to results but Im convinced that my side can play as well as any club.”
