Slovakia are expected to get their World Cup underway with a win over New Zealand – Simon Hopper previews the World Cup betting

Former France captain Zinedine Zidane has criticised coach Raymond Domenech and claimed “there is no teamwork” among the French players at the World Cup.

France toiled to a 0-0 draw in their opening World Cup match against Uruguay on Friday, creating few chances in a dismal game.

Even when Uruguay were reduced to ten men with the sending off of Nicolas Lodeiro, France failed to capitalise and Zidane believes that it was down to a lack of team ethic.

“They didn’t play together and it was more a case of individual efforts,” Zidane said. “The players must take responsibility for themselves, move themselves. You have to be straight with each other.”

“[Domenech] is not a coach. He picked his squad and he has to make them play together. You must put your ego to one side and work together. Teamwork is the most important thing, and that’s not what we saw during the [Uruguay] match.”

France’s next game is against Mexico in Polokwane on Thursday.
