France and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has admitted taking creatine and being injected with vitamin supplements whilst playing for Italian giants Juventus.

Zidane and Gianluca Vialli gave evidence at the trial of Juve general manager Antonio Giraudo and club doctor Riccardo Agricola today where the pair are charged with administering banned drugs to players between 1994 and 1998. Both men deny the allegations.

World Cup winner Zidane took to the stand to say: “I only took creatine when I played with Juventus.

‘That didn’t happen before in France, nor now in Spain.”

Speaking of the vitamin injections, he added: “I needed them to play 70 matches a year.”

If Giraudo and Aricola are found guilty they could face up to eight months in prison. The trial continues.
