Zinedine Zidane has confirmed he will retire from the game when he finally decides to cal it a day with Real Madrid.

ZidaneÊhas been with Real since 2001, and there have been reports he would conclude his career by returning to play for Marseille, the club he supported as a youngster.

However, the World Player of the Year, has decided that Madrid will be his final destination of what has been a glittering club and international career.

“Real Madrid willÊbe my last team,” he declared.

“I have signed for four years, which will lead me to 2005.

“Or I could end in 2006 if I extend for one more year, which is forecasted in my contract.”

Zidane, is undecided when it comes to the end of his international career but he has so far refused to rule out the possibility of continuing playing for France after this summer’s European Championships.

“It is too far away for me to imagine I could play,” he said.

“In the next six months, my aim is Champions League with Real and Euro 2004 with Les Bleus.

“We really want to defend our title. It won’t be easy, but that doesn’t prevent us from having a competitive team.”
