Valencia midfielder David Albelda will be out of action for two months with a knee injury, the Primera Liga club has confirmed.

The 29-year-old international suffered a twisted ligament in his right knee during his side’s 1-0 league win over Osasuna on Sunday.

“After tests, the club’s medical services confirm the diagnosis given at the game on Sunday. Assuming there are no complications the player will be out for two months,” a statement said on Valencia’s web site.

As well as missing several league matches, Abelda will miss the next three Champions League matches against Shakhtar Donetsk, Olympiakos and Roma.

Albelda joins defenders Carlos Marchena and Asier del Horno and midfielders Ruben Baraja and Vicente on coach Quique Sanchez Flores’s injury list.
