Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the possibility of becoming Italy manager in the near future as he looks to secure a legacy at Chelsea.

Ancelotti has been tipped to take on the Italian manager’s role one day, but he said he has no intention of leaving Chelsea any time soon and does not believe it would be helpful to current incumbent, Cesare Prandelli, to comment too much on the situation.

“I want to open up a cycle with Chelsea, and then we will see,” he told RaiUno.

“I hope Cesare Prandelli stays with Italy for 20 years. According to statistics Italy win the World Cup once every 24 years which means we will win again in 2030.

“But I hope they can win it before then.”

Ancelotti says that he is enjoying life in England, even if it has been a challenge to become fluent in the language.

He explained: “I like being in England. Italy is always close and I still feel 100 per cent Italian but I am living a wonderful adventure.

“I love English football, the environment and the atmosphere.

“The English language? It is pretty good although I still struggle to hear, but with the players it is going well and I’m still studying. I’ll improve.”
