Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel has signed a new four-year contract with the Premier League club, Villa said on their website on Friday.
The 28-year-old Colombian international was Villa’s leading scorer last season with 23 goals.
“This is great news for everybody at Villa Park,” Villa Chairman Doug Ellis said.
“Juan Pablo Angel played a key role in our revival last season and we’re confident he can carry that sensational form into the new season.”
Angel joined Villa from Argentine side River Plate for £9.5m in January 2001 but struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League until the arrival of new manager David O’Leary last season.
