Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Sol Campbell will appeal against the red red card he received during last night’s top of the table clash with Manchester United.
Defender Campbell was sent off by referee Mark Halsey for elbowing United’s striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the face.
“We will appeal,” said Wenger.
“I have seen the incident again on the video and it was obviously accidental.
“Sol did not mean to hurt Solskjaer and his reaction did not help. A four game ban would be very unjust.”
If a ban was upheld, Campbell would be miss the last three games of the season and the FA Cup final. A ban would be a serious blow to Wenger’s dreamof a second consecutive double.
