Arsene Wenger has given Juventus keeper Fabian Carini a 24-hour deadline to agree to join Arsenal, or the club will look elsewhere for a keeper.
Uruguayan number one Carini was thought to have signed for Arsenal on a year’s loan last month but the move has stalled due to disagreements over the player’s personal demands.
‘We have to agree personal terms over the course of the next day…if we do not, we have to look elsewhere (for a goalkeeper),’ said Wenger.
‘Fabian was okay about everything, but we do not have much time. We have to make a decision because the transferdeadline is August 31 and we have to sort this out.’
If the Carini deal collapses, Arsenal will be left wiith just two goakeepers for the new season: England keeper David Seaman and 21- year-old reserve keeper Stuart Taylor.
‘We need more cover,’ admitted Wenger, who may be ruing his decision to sell Richard Wright to Everton.
