Arsenal will sign Juventus keeper Fabian Carini provided Richard Wright completes his £5 million move to Everton.
The 22-year-old Uruguayan stopper has become frustrated at the Della Alpi where he has been unable to dislodge Gianluigi Buffon as Juventus’ number one. Carini is available on a one-year loan for £ 1million with the option of a permanent deal if he impresses at Highbury.
With David Seaman extending his stay at Highbury for another year, Carini would be expected to begin the season as Arsenal number 2 but with Seaman approaching the end of his career, the Uruguayan would be in pole position to become his long-term successor.
First cappped by his country at 19, Carini played in all three of Uruguay’s World Cup matches and is regarded as one of the world’s brightest goalkeeping prospects.
Wright will join Everton if he passes a medical later today.
