Tottenham defender Gareth Bale has signed a new contract that will keep the Wales international at White Hart Lane until 2012.
Bale, 19, made just 12 appearances during an injury-ravaged debut season with the Premier League club, but boss Juande Ramos is convinced he can be a key figure as he seeks to revive Spurs’ fortunes.
Bale, who joined Tottenham from Southampton for £5million in May 2007, is Wales’ youngest full international after making his debut aged 16 years and 315 days.
“We are delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new contract that will see him commit his future to the Club until 2012,” a statement on the club’s website read.
