Franz Beckenbauer says he is giving up his seat on FIFA’s executive committee.
Beckenbauer who led his country to success as a player and coach, says he will not stand again in 2011.
The 65-year-old says he’s had “a good time” with his colleagues from FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations and has a “very friendly” relationship with Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini, but asks for “understanding for my decision.”
Beckenbauer says he is dropping out for purely “personal and family reasons.”
