Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that it is increasingly unlikely that former German international striker Fredi Bobic will be retuning to the Reebok Stadium.
The 31-year-old Borussia Dortmund player spent four months on loan with Bolton last season, helping the club to avoid the drop during his stint.
Allardyce was keen to secure another loan deal with the striker but Borussia Dortmund preferred a permanent mmove and any deal now looks unlikely.
“It doesn’t look as though Fredi will be back with us next season,” said Allardyce.
“We were interested but his club wanted to make it a long term move and we were looking for a loan.”
Bobic, meannwhile, has reiterated his desire to quit Dortmund.
“I have made it clear that I am willing to take a wage cut because I simply want to play football,”he said. “If I could decide I would prefer to join Borussia Monchengladbach on their trip to Wolfsburg.
