Bolton have signed Javi Moreno on loan from Atletico Madrid until the end of the season, subject to a medical.

Moreno, who first attracted attention when playing for Alaves, has fallen out of favour at Atletico following his move from Milan.

“He has only played eight matches this year for Atletico Madrid,” said Bolton boss Sam Allardyce.

“It means we have to be careful regarding his match fitness but hopefully he can be successful for us.”

Allardyce will be hoping for a better return from Moreno than he has received from another high profile striker in Mario Jardel. The Portuguese forward who joined in the summer has yet to score in the Premmier League.

“Mario was here to score but hasn’t managed one in the Premiership and you can’t wait, ” Allardyce added.
