Franco Colomba has been sacked by Serie A club Cagliari.

The dismissal of Colomba comes on the same day that Alberto Zaccheroni was sacked at Torino as both clubs look to takke measures avert relegation from Italy’s top flight.

Colomba only took charge of the club in December, but he has failed to turn the club around and the Sardinians opted to dispense with his services following the weekend defeat to Lazio.

Cagliari, who sit just three points clear of the drop zone, have appointed Marco Giampaolo as Colomba’s succesor.

Colomba replaced Giampaolo at the helm of Cagliari in December.
