Paraguay have suffered a blow ahead of their World Cup campaign with the withdrawal through injury of Jose Cardozo.
The veteran striker has been forced to miss out due to a calf problem, sustained in a friendly against Bavaria.
“Jose Saturnino Cardozo has suffered an injury involving a pulled calf muscle on his left leg with a bruise in the affected area,” said a statement by the Paraguayan Football Association.
Cardozo, 35, is expected to be replaced by Genoa’s Dante Lopez in coach squad Anibal Ruiz’s squad.
