Chelsea have drawn 7 of their last 10 away European games and with both teams having already qualified, is that the way to go again against Porto? Gavin Beech thinks maybe not, see his top tips here.

Group C – Kick-off 19:45 (BST)

While the focus in the build up to this game centred on the imminent return from injury of Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini pointed out that there is the more pressing matter of qualification to consider.

Madrid are level on points with Milan at the top of the section and would advance with a home win if Milan defeat Marseille.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has been doing well in training,” said Pellegrini. “He’s made the squad and we’ll see what he can do tomorrow. It’s impossible not to miss a player with his quality, but even without him we are top of the Liga. No team can depend on just one player.

“Guti has the flu and though I don’t think it’s too serious it’s one for the medical staff. First place in the group is very important but not decisive. I would prefer to play the second leg in the last 16 at home, but that doesn’t guarantee you a place in the next round.

“Lass [Diarra], Van Nistelrooy, Albiol and Sergio Ramos are back so I have a few choices this week.”

Meanwhile, Zurich coach Bernard Challandes is hoping to spring another surprise after his side won at San Siro on Matchday 2.

“Ronaldo is a very good player,” he conceded. “He played very well in Zurich, but Real Madrid have a lot of good players and it won’t be better for us if he can’t play.

” We know how good they are. We can’t compare this with our league, where we are not playing well. We are in the Santiago Bernabéu, a legendary stadium, and this is something completely different.

“We don’t come here every year and this is a great opportunity for us. I’m not afraid. We are realistic and we will try to get a good result. Maybe we can spring a surprise.”
