Premiership title chasers Chelsea have been told to “get lost” by fellow London club Charlton Athletic.
Chelsea are in the hunt for England midfielder Scott Parker and have already had two bids for him turned down prompting Addicks chairman Martin Simons to come out and say: “Get lost, go away, we don’t want your money.”
Simons angrily declared that none of his players are for sale as Charlton have high hopes of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
“Chelsea are third in the Premiership. We’re fourth and they want one of our best players,” Simons said.
“Roman Ambramovich has got to discover that life is not all about money. He can’t just come in and say, ‘we want, we get’.
“Why don’t we just let all the best players go to the top three clubs? That would be good wouldn’t it? Let them play in a league all on their own.
“No way. We are not little Charlton anymore. We have come a long way.”
Parker who once appeared in a McDonalds advert, practicing his ball skills as a boy, would apparently love a move to Stamford Bridge, but boss Alan Curbishly has told him he is not going anywhere.
The speculation caused Curbishly to leave the midfield ace out of his side’s starting line up for the away win at Everton on the weekend, further fuelling the rumors that he will leave.
But Curbishly and Simons are determined to keep their biggest asset in order to build for the future.
The Valley chairman added: “Parker is not for sale, end of story.
“We want to be successful, we are ambitious and want to win things. So what is the point in selling our best players?”
