Chelsea have sacked goalkeeper Mark Bosnich after the Australian tested positive for cocaine.

The former Aston Villa and Manchester United keeper had been suspended indefinitely after testing postive for cocaine in November, but according to a report from the Press Association, the club have now formally terminated his contract.

Bosnich, who has been reported to be suffering from depression, is believed to be considering challenging the decision although it is understood the club are within their rights to fire him for breach of contract.

The Australian has consistently denied knowingly taking the drug, and intends to contest the FA misconduct charge.
