Francesco Coco’s proposed one-year loan move from Inter to Newcastle has fallen through.

The 28-year-old defender was expected to join on a temporary basis with a view to a permanent deal, but despite playing a friendly match for the Magpies the deal has collapsed.

“We have been unable to agree to the final conditions of the player’s loan move and he will be returning to Milan shortly,” said a Newcastle statement.

Coco, an Italian international, spent two years at Milan before moving to Inter, where he fell out of favour last season.
