Turkey coach Senol Gunes has suggested that Sven Goran Eriksson’s international career could be ended by defeat from his Turkish side.
“Defeat at Sunderland and a decision could be made about his future after the game,” said Gunes.
“All national coaches know the price of failure, the cost of bad results.
“I respect Eriksson but I know exactly the position he is in. England are still a very powerful country in terms of world football and the expectations are high.
“All I’m interested in is taking thethree points.
“That may be bad for Eriksson but there is not much I can do about it.”
Meanwhile, there was anger in the English press today, as it was revealed that a spy from the Turkey camp secretly filmed Sven Goran Eriksson’s training session on Monday. Eriksson was unavailablle for comment, but he is understood to be furious, particularly as he had adopted a different playing formation for the session form his favoured 4-4-2.
