Juventus Serie A hopes have been hit by the news that leading scorer Alessandro Del Piero could be out of action foreight weeks after suffering muscle damage during yesterday’s match against Atalanta.

The initial diagnosis suggested the 28-year-old striker would be out for a month, but after undergoing a scan, Del Piero looks set for a lengthier absence.

“The ultrasound scan will be postponed by one day, and thanks to this rest the exams will be more reliable,” said a Juventus official.

“However, it’s quite likely that the player will be out for two months.” ÿÿ
