Spain can set a new world record of 36 games unbeaten should they avoid defeat to the USA in the Confederations Cup semi-finals – and Simon Hopper thinks they can do it in style.

Espanyol have completed the signing of Japan midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura from Celtic on a two-year deal, the Spanish Liga club have confirmed.

Nakamura, who was out of contract at the end of the month, won three Scottish league titles during his time in Glasgow but was keen on a move to a new club ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Nakamura was in Japan’s starting line-up for the recent match against Qatar, when qualification for next summer’s finals was secured.

Nakamura, who previously played for J-League club Yokohama F-Marinos and Italy’s Reggina, will arrive in Barcelona on July 10 for a medical before beginning pre-season training.
