Everton have agreed a deal worth over £3m for versatile Manchester United player Phil Neville.
The 28-year-old will undergo a medical before joining David Moyes’ side on a five-year contract.
“We are absolutely delighted to have concluded a deal with a player of Phil’s calibre and vast experience,” Moyes told Everton’s official website.
“Primarily I see him as a holding midfielder but he gives us several additional options.”
Moyes has struggled to strengthen his side this summer, missing out on several targets and he was relieved to seal a deal for Neville.
“We have staved off a great deal of competition to get him,” he said.
“Several clubs were interested in signing him but I must say from the first minute I spoke to him he only wanted to come to Everton.”
Neville has won 52 England caps and made 386 appearances for United, although he started only 12 games last season.
