Premiership club Everton are on the verge of signing Chinese Footballer of the Year Li Tie.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been involved in negotiations with the Merseyside club for several weeks and a deal is expected to be finalised in the next few days,

“The club still hasn’t signed anything with us, and Li Tie still hasn’t signed anything, but one thing I can say for sure is that Li Tie is certain to be playing overseas,” Cheng Penghui manager of Li’s local club Liaoning was reported to have said.

Everton are believed to have had agreed a one-year deal for the Chinese international £210,000 with the option of extending for an additional three years.
