Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits he flattered by Real Madrid’s reported interest in him, but claims he has no intention of quitting Highbury just yet.
The 18-year-old has also caught the eye of Spain coach Luis Aragones and he made his full international debut in the 3-2 win over Ivory Coast last week. However, it was his mature performance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid a fortnight ago that caught the eye.
For the time being though, Fabregas is happy with life at Arsenal.
“Real Madrid? All I know is what I have read,” Fabregas told the Corriere dello Sport.
“I have a contract until 2011, but it’s useless denying it – Real Madrid’s interest fills me with pride. They are the most famous club in the world.
“But I have fantastic team-mates and can become everything I dream of here (at Arsenal).
“In England I am serving a real apprenticeship. It’s the ideal place, if you are good enough you can become a champion.
“I went to Arsenal because there was a coach, Wenger, who had always believed in me even when I was only fifteen or sixteen and was hundreds of miles away.
“Arsenal has been an extraordinary experience. I owe a big debt to a group of people who really put their faith in me. I am in a fantastic place to play football.”
Fabregas also admitted that his favourite club is Milan, and his favouroite player, the Rossoneri playmaker Kaka.
“After (Arsenal), if I had to think about a team that fascinates me it would be Milan,” he added.
“Ever since I was little I have dreamed about being Zidane, but the player now that I am most taken with, because of his elegance and strength, is Kaka.”
