Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is reported to be considering a £20m bid for Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard to replace captain Roy Keane.
Keane is harbouring doubts about whether he will see out the remaining two years of his contract. The United skipper has amditted that he would like to finish his playing career at Celtic.
“You can’t look too far ahead in football,” said Keane.
“I think as a player, you can’t be looking too far ahead,” Keane added.
“And in football, I think you should always expect the unexpected. I’m sitting here saying: ‘I’ve got two years left on my contract’; many players have said that and before you know it, they’re off.”
According to The Sun newspaper Ferguson wants England midfielder Gerrard, 23, to become Keane’s long-term successor.
