Former coach of the Auustralian national team Eddie Thomson, has died aged 55 after a long battle with cancer.
Thomson coached Australia from 1990 to 1996 including a 1994 World Cup play-off tie against Argentina and two Olympics.
Thomson played 253 league games in 10 years in Scotland’s top division forHearts and Aberdeen, before moving to the United States where he played for San Antonio Thunder in the Northern American Soccer League.
Thomson then moved to Australia and played for Sydney City, before eventually taking over the coaching reins at the club.
