Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has launched a tirade against the strategy of his replacement at the Camp Nou, Sandro Rosell, claiming he has made a number of significant mistakes since being appointed.
Rosell took charge at the club three months ago, and has himself been critical of the financial situation bequeathed by the former incumbent.
However, speaking this morning at a meeting in the city, Laporta defended his reign, and added his belief that Rosell has already made some serious mistakes.
AS reports that he blasted: “Our management of the club was impeccable, we helped to build the best Barcelona ever, but they [Rosell and his associates] have helped to build a bad name for our management. This damage may have irreparable consequences, and he does not deserve his position at the club.
“There is a great deal of resentment from this board towards me. There is also an issue of personal interest. There are people and groups who were consistently opposed to our management.
“Removing [Johan] Cruyff [Rosell stripped him of his honorary presidency in July] was a mistake, and he is unworthy to be the president of Barcelona because he is failing in many acts.”
