Robbie Fowler has completed his œ6m move from Leeds to Manchester City.
“Fowler has agreed personal terms to move to Manchester City plc following the successful completion of a medical examination,” a statement to the London stock exchange said on Thursday.
The England forward had been expected to move to City earlier this mon only for the player to pull out at the last minute after passing a medical. However, after reconsidering his position, Fowler agreed to the switch.
‘We’ve bought the best finisher I’ve ever seen,’ enthused Keegan. ‘It would have been one of my biggest regrets if I’d misssed out on him.’
“First and foremost the thought of him playing with Nicolas Anelka is a dream pairing for me.
“I like my forwards to be different and they are certainly different. You can’t compare them and I can see that working out very well.
“Robbie is proven. He knows the Premiership and his goal record is second-to-none.
“It is incredible when you look at it, even at Leeds. He has one every two games. With all the problems he has had he is still a one-in-two man.”
The new deal sees Man City pay an initial fee of œ3m and a further œ3m when the player has made a certain number of first-team appearances.
‘I’m just delighted it’s done and dusted,’ admitted Fowler.
‘There were a few problems along the way but from the first moment I met Kevin Keegan he has done nothing but impress me.’
