Fulham hope to agree a groundshare share with Chelsea that will see the Cottagers playing at Stamford Bridge from next season.

Jean Tigana’s side are currently groundsharing at Loftus Road with Queens Park Rangers, but Fulham chief executive Bruce Langham has met his Chelsea counterpart Trevor Birch on several occasions with a view to and Fulham playing at Stamford Bridge next season.

“We think there’s a good chance of getting a groundshare with Chelsea – and we’re aiming for next season,” said a Fulham spokesman.

However, there is a major stumbling block to the proposal: namely that the current planning rule wpermmits only one team to be based at Stamford Bridge. The clubs are expected to submit a joint application to theLondon Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in the near future, requesting they change that rule.

If the council rejects the proposal then Fulham will stay at Loftus Road.
